26/01/17 – Bridging the gap

Today I was working with a ICA technician and we had a problem that needed to be solved . We needed to come up with a way to recive the pressure readings from a basin that was out in the field .

The basin was roughly 4 miles away from the control room and we needed to monitor the levels of the basin so to overcome this problem we used a private line to send the various signals from the pressure transducers. To send the signals along the line we used an electrical component to change the input to a frequency so that it could be sent down the private line to our control room where we use a similar component to change the frequency back into a control current that could be used by the PLC to monitor the level.

It was interesting to learn about how the different equipment works and the different uses for it .
