Today we had the enormous task of reinstating a 4 tonne sludge pump that had been out of service for several months. The pump is the largest pump that we will ever have to install and has a discharge manifold that measures 500 mm in diameter .
It was so big that we needed to hire a mobile crane so that it could be lowered into the correct position before the massive cables needed to get connected up at the junction box . The cables needed a specific crimp so that they can be bolted together to the existing power cables that are supplied from the MCC.
It was a good learning experience and interesting to watch the pump been installed as it helped to build up my knowledge and develop my skills for future use.
